Sculptra Approved for Body Treatments in Europe

If collagen stimulation has been part of your face strategy, it’s now officially part of the body conversation, at least in Europe. Galderma has announced a new EU indication for Sculptra, expanding its approved use beyond the face to include the gluteal area, posterior thighs, décolletage and upper arms.

The move reflects how aesthetic goals are shifting globally. “Patients are no longer treating the face in isolation,” says Berlin plastic surgeon Flavia Radke, MD. “Concerns like skin laxity, cellulite and volume loss across the body are now part of the same conversation. This approval matches what patients are already asking for. They want results that look natural and feel cohesive.”

Unlike traditional fillers that create immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually, encouraging the body to rebuild its own collagen over time. “With its unique poly-L-lactic acid formulation, Sculptra helps the skin regenerate, improving skin quality, firmness, lift, projection and contour,” says Dr. Radke.

With the new approval, providers can now use Sculptra in larger body areas where texture changes and laxity are often harder to address. According to clinical data shared by Galderma, patients saw visible improvement in the buttocks within six months with continued gains over time. In the thighs, improvements in the appearance of cellulite and skin laxity continued to build over the course of a year, alongside high patient satisfaction.

While this approval currently applies to Europe only under the EU Medical Device Regulation, it signals growing momentum behind collagen-focused body treatments and offers a clear glimpse at where the U.S. market may be headed next.
